Marketing, Communications and Events Coordinator

The Marketing, Communications and Events Coordinator supports the Executive Director and works closely with all staff and partners to manage communications and messaging, develop and publish content and produce events that increase awareness and awareness. engagement with and through our network of addiction and mental health partners. health restoration. As an integral part of our small team, the Marketing, Communications and Events Coordinator ensures that our messaging approaches follow best practice, that our materials accurately reflect current knowledge and trends in recovery concurrent, and that our events inspire participation, deepen community engagement, and advance VAMHAR/Recovery Vermont as a thought leader and essential partner in supporting, expanding, and evolving the recovery workforce and peers across Vermont.

The Marketing, Communications and Events Coordinator will help VAMHAR embody our values ​​– including the integration of practices to promote equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility – and deepen a culture of resilience and empowerment through our extensive network of recovery coaches, recovery centers, peer workforce, peer support organizations and all partners who help celebrate and expand access to resources and recovery services for Vermonters.


  • Develop, distribute and promote the use of materials that ensure best practices in mental health and addiction recovery are widely understood and used throughout Vermont.
  • Develop, implement and monitor our communication strategy and all related activities, including on the following platforms: newsletter; social media; website; promotional and marketing material
  • Produce and co-produce events to celebrate and collaborate with all partners, stakeholders and funders to advance our mission (e.g. Recovery Vermont’s Leadership Conference, Recovery Day, Recovery Month activities, Celebrate Recovery Rally, Mental Health Advocacy Day)
  • Plan and host statewide community events (online and/or in-person, as appropriate) to include community leaders, people in recovery, and partners to engage, organize, and educate attendees from the community on how to advocate and celebrate mental health, how to advocate for parity and eliminate stigma.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Training to seek out, create, and implement ongoing community education and advocacy opportunities to support the advancement of Vermont’s concurrent recovery workforce and expand community support and education. statewide for recovery pathways (e.g., training, communities of practice, workshops, meetings/summits, roundtables, dialogue/learning sessions).
  • Support the Executive Director and Director of Operations in VAMHAR’s successful engagement with the State House and with legislative leadership to pursue the development of state legislation that supports our mission, including weekly engagement opportunities .

  • Experience with Google Drive, Canva, Microsoft Office products and social media messaging.

  • Proven autonomy and ability to work independently.


  • 3+ years of experience in communications, event planning, community engagement, or similar work in the public or nonprofit sector.
  • Experience creating strategic communications plans for multiple programs with overlapping audiences.
  • Proven track record in planning and executing large-scale events (in-person and virtual), with multiple speakers, 100+ attendees, tight agendas, catering, registration, and exquisite attention to every detail.
  • Confidence in public speaking, facilitation, convening and planning events.
  • Experience in the field of health and social services; awareness of issues facing the mental health and recovery communities.
  • Experience with the application and administration of state and/or federal grants.
  • Commitment to team leadership.
  • Commitment to a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Salary: $65,000.00


  • Blue Cross Blue Shield Platinum Plan – VAMHAR pays 80%, employee pays 20%. Dental and vision available.
  • 4 weeks paid vacation per year and all Vermont state holidays, paid.
  • 3% of the gross annual salary corresponding to the employer’s retirement account.
  • $1,500 annual flexible spending account.
